Horse Shows in the Park is proud to be an Affiliated Member of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA). The USHJA is committed to advancing and representing the hunter and jumper disciplines by fostering an educated community of equestrians that promotes the welfare of the horse and fairness in competition. Membership in USHJA allows our riders and exhibitors to take part in many USHJA program offerings including a number of exciting new Affiliate Award Programs. USHJA Sponsorship of Affiliate Organizations' Equitation Awards Program For 2009

Purpose:
To increase USHJA's outreach in the equestrian community, by further informing and educating individuals who partake in equestrian sports at the unrecognized and local horse show level.

Specifications:
This Equitation Award program is only offered to organizations that are Affiliate Members of USHJA, such as Horse Shows in the Park, LLC. Affiliate Organizations may choose to participate through offering Medal Finals Classes at a designated horse show or by using cumulative points through the competition year to determine their year-end award winners.

Participation through Medal Finals:
Medal Finals horse shows which are hosted by USHJA Affiliate Organizations and offer Finals for Adults, Children, and/or Ponies. The specifications for these classes are completely under the jurisdiction of the Affiliate Organization and should reflect the needs of its membership.

Members qualify for the finals by participating primarily at unrecognized (no more than 20% of the qualifying classes may be offered at USEF A, B or C rated shows) and local horse shows which offer the Medal Classes that are part of this award program.

For participating horse shows, the USHJA will provide a "keepsake" for each Medal Finals qualifier who is a USHJA Outreach Level Member (to be presented at each Association's Medal Finals) and would provide an award for each Medal Finals winner. A photo of each Medal Finals winner who is a USHJA Outreach Level Member would be included in the Affiliates Award Yearbook that the USHJA publishes annually.

Participation through Cumulative Competition Year Point Totals:
Affiliate Organizations that determine their 'high score' award winners through cumulative year-end point totals may choose to honor their top award winners in their Adults, Children, and/or Ponies Equitation/Medal Classes through this program. These high score awards must be determined by points earned primarily unrecognized and local horse shows (no more than 20% of the classes counted toward a high score award may have been offered at USEF A, B or C rated shows.

The USHJA will provide a "keepsake" for the top ten point earners in each Equitation section who are USHJA Outreach Level Members. The USHJA would provide a high score award for the top point earner in each of the Equitation sections (a maximum of three sections). A photo of each High Score winner who is a USHJA Outreach Level Member will be included in the Affiliates Award Yearbook that the USHJA publishes annually.
